Yuichiro “Kevin” Asami is a guitarist/guitar instructor/arranger/composer/producer based on Yokohama in Japan.
He started playing piano when he was 3 years old at Yamaha Music School, where he leant basic musical knowledge and ear training. Kevin grabbed his first guitar when he was 15. Once he started playing guitar, he attended Yamaha Music School and took private lessons to learn guitar technique and music theory.
Kevin moved into Los Angeles in 2004 to develop his musical knowledge, skills and music career. He graduated Musicians Institute(GIT) in 2006. Since then, he has been sharing his wide musical knowledge and guitar skills with many artists, bands, events, churches, musical theaters, restaurants, clubs such as, Josef Hedinger(Warner Music Gourp), Placido Domingo Jr., Chrystina Sayers(Girlicious), Ashly Williams(The X Factor USA 2013), Jake Simpson, Lexi Lawson (RENT, American Idol), Tracy Thomas, Brooke Taylor, Kelley Nicole, Lauren Silva, Looner (Avian Recording Company), Musicians Institute, Chrystal Cathedral, IU Entertainment, LLC,
DOMA Theatre Co., Indonesia Day 2010, Nisei Week, KIIS FM Wango Tango etc. He works as one of faculty members at Musicians Institute from 2012.
Kevin’s arrangement work includes a new musical, “VLAD” (music is written by Placido Domingo Jr.), which was produced through ANMT (the Academy of New Musical Theater), DOMA Theatre Co. presented “Pippin” and “Jacques Brel is Alive and Well and Living in Paris”. Besides those, Kevin also work with artists to develop their songs.
Kevin moved back to Japan in 2016. Since then, he keep working for recoding sessions, gigs and private lessons. Between Dec/2017 and Mar/2018, he has worked for a Club Med resort as a house band musician.
